In accordance with Census 2011 there are 122,931 Kabui speakers in India covering 0,01 % of the country's total population and there are 63,529 Zeliang speakers in India covering 0,01 % of the country's total population.
Kabui language is mainly concentrated in:
- Manipur - मणिपुर (109,616 with 3.84 % of the state's population),
- Nagaland - नगालैंड (6,968),
- Assam - असम (5,616),
- Meghalaya - मेघालय (208) and
- Delhi - दिल्ली (157).
Zeliang language is mainly spoken in:
- Nagaland - नगालैंड (60,399 with 3.05 % of the state's population),
- Manipur - मणिपुर (2,727) and
- Meghalaya - मेघालय (302).
Among the districts in Manipur, the highest number of Kabui speakers is noticed in:
- Tamenglong - तामेंलों (81,162),
- Imphal West - इम्फाल पश्चिम (10,406),
- Imphal East - इम्फाल पूर्व (7,264),
- Senapati - सेनापति (4,804),
- Churachandpur - चुराचान्दपुर (3,844),
- Bishnupur - बिष्णुपुर (1,548) and
- Thoubal - थौबाल (497).
Among the districts in Nagaland, the highest number of Zeliang speakers is registered in:
- Peren - पेरेन (54,467),
- Dimapur - दीमापुर (4,527) and
- Kohima - कोहिमा (1,143).
Outside Manipur, significant proportion of Kabui speakers are recorded in Nagaland in Peren - पेरेन (3,757) and Dimapur - दीमापुर (2,635) and Kohima - कोहिमा (500) in Assam in Cachar - कछार (4,984), Karbi Anglong - कार्बी आंग्लंग (289), Dima Hasao - दीमा हसाव (186) and in Meghalaya in East Khasi Hills - ईस्ट खासी हिल्स (156).
Outside Nagaland, Zeliang speakers are significant in Manipur in Senapati - सेनापति (2,710) and in Meghalaya in Ribhoi - रिभोइ (279).
