In accordance with Census 2011 there are 44,100 Mishmi speakers in India covering 0,004 % of the country's total population.
Substantial share of Mishmi speakers in:
- Arunachal Pradesh - अरुणाचल प्रदेश (42,017 with 3.04 % of the state's population),
- Assam - असम (1,578) and
- Uttar Pradesh - उतार प्रदेश। (274).
In Arunachal Pradesh, Mishmi speakers are significant in:
