In accordance with Census 2011 there are 13,703 Monpa speakers in India covering 0,001 % of the country's total population.
Substantial share of Monpa speakers in:
- Arunachal Pradesh - अरुणाचल प्रदेश (12,398 with 0.90 % of the state's population) and
- Karnataka - कर्नाटक (767)).
In Arunachal Pradesh, among districts, Monpa speakers are significant in:
- Tawang - तवांग (3,929),
- Changlang - चांगलांग (3,295),
- West Kameng - पश्चिमी कामेंग (2,728),
- Papum Pare - पापुम पारे (1,108),
- West Siang - पश्चिमी सियांग (573),
