In accordance with Census 2011 there are 128,451 Kolami speakers in India covering 0,01 % of the country's total population.
Kolami speakers are mainly concentrated in:
- Maharashtra - महाराष्ट्र (89,170 with 0.05 % of the state's population) and
- Telangana (39,120).
Among the districts in Maharashtra, the highest number of Kolami speakers is noticed in:
- Yavatmal - यवतमाल (76,720),
- Chandrapur - चंद्रपूर (6,048),
- Wardha - वर्धा (4,483),
- Nanded - नांदेड (1,504) and
- Amravati - अमरावती (127).
Outside Maharashtra, significant numbers of Kolami speakers are available in Andhra Pradesh in Adilabad - अदिलाबाद (39,095) and in Goa in North Goa - उत्तर गोवा (103).
