In accordance with Census 2011 there are 766,297 Halabi speakers in India covering 0,06 % of the country's total population.
Halabi speakers are mainly concentrated in:
- Chhattisgarh - छत्तीसगढ (706,304 with 2.76 % of the state's population),
- Odisha - ओडिशा (31,767),
- Maharashtra - महाराष्ट्र (24,950),
- Madhya Pradesh - मध्य प्रदेश (1,985) and
- Gujarat - गुजरात (1,053).
Among the districts in Chhattisgarh, the highest Halabi speakers is noticed in:
- Bastar - बस्तर (5,66,009),
- Dakshin Bastar Dantewada - दक्षिण बस्तर दंतेवाड़ा (79,415),
- Narayanpur - नारायणपु (25,364),
- Bijapur - बीजापुर (19,812),
- Uttar Bastar Kanker - उत्तर बस्तर कांकेर (12,776),
- Durg - दुर्ग (1,631),
- Rajnandgaon - राजनांदगांव (635),
- Dhamtari - धमतरी (207) and
- Raipur - रायपुर (196).
Outside Chhattisgarh, significant proportion of Halabi speakers are recorded in Odisha in Nabarangapur - नबरंगपुर (23,193), Malkangiri - मालकानगिरि (8,348) and Koraput - कोरापुट (212), and in Maharashtra in Nagpur - नागपूर (13,657), Bhandara - भंडारा ((2,862), Chandrapur - चंद्रपूर (2,663), Gadchiroli - गडचिरोली (2,206) and Amravati - अमरावती (910), in Gujarat in Ahmadabad - अहमदाबाद (988), in Madhya Pradesh in Balaghat - बालाघाट (795), Betul - बैतूल (740) and Seoni - सिवनी (347).
