Among the districts in Meghalaya, the highest proportion of Garo speakers is noticed in:

• East Garo Hills - ईस्ट गारो हिल्स (93.74 %),
• West Garo Hills - वेस्ट गारो हिल्स (64.41 %),
• West Khasi Hills - वेस्ट खासी हिल्स (12.64 %),
• Ribhoi - रिभोइ (5.74 %),
• East Khasi Hills - ईस्ट खासी हिल्स (3.08 %) and
• Jaintia Hills - जैन्तिया हिल्स (0.15 %).

Significant proportion of Garo speakers are recorded in Assam in Goalpara - गोवालपारा (7.56 %),Karbi Anglong - कार्बी आंग्लंग (2.61 %) and Kamrup - कामरूप (1.86 %), in Arunachal Pradesh in Tirap - तिराप (5.22 %) and in Tripura in Dhalai - धलाई (1.87 %).
