• Jammu and Kashmir - जम्मू और कश्मीर (12,399, with 0.10 % of the state's population),
• Uttarakhand - उत्तराखंड (1,173 ) and
• Bihar - बिहार (108).

In Jammu and Kashmir state, the highest number of Balti speakers is noticed in:

• Leh - लेह (लद्दाख (5,269),
• Kargil (4,556),
• Ganderbal - गान्दरबल (1,994) and
• Srinagar - श्रीनगर (350).

Apart from Jammu and Kashmir, a good number of Balti speakers are spread in Uttarakhand in Dehradun - देहरादून (1,168) and in Bihar in Araria - अररिया (108).
