In accordance with Census 2011 there are 54,947 Arabic speakers in India covering 0,005 % of the country's total population.
Substantial proportion of Arabic/Arbi speakers are mainly concentrated in the state of:
- Bihar - बिहार (45.76 %),
- Uttar Pradesh - उतार प्रदेश। (14.00 %),
- West Bengal - पश्चिम बंगाल (8.15 %),
- Assam - असम (5.69 %),
- Jharkhand - झारखंड (3.81 %) and
- Maharashtra - महाराष्ट्र (3.33 %).
Among the districts in Bihar, the highest proportion of Arabic/ Arbi speakers is noticed in:
- Munger - मुंगेर (0.14%),
- Araria - अररिया (0.11 %),
- Purnia - पूर्णिया (0.10 %) and
- Lakhisarai - लखीसराय (0.09 %).
Proportion of Arabic/Arbi speakers outside Bihar is noticed in Jharkhand in Sahibganj - साहिबगंज (0.05 %), Godda - गोड्डा (0.04 %) and Ramgarh - रामगढ़ (0.02 %), in Uttar PradeSh in Gonda - गोण्डा (0.04 %), Pilibhit - पीलीभीत (0.03 %) and Ambedkar Nagar - अम्बेडकर नगर (0.02 %), in Assam in Sonitpur - सोनितपुर and Kokrajhar - कोकराझार (0.04 %).
